Keanu Brady
Keanu Brady is currently a junior in the Department of Modern Dance at University of Utah, has overcome formidable challenges to be the first in his family to attend college. As a student and a teacher he constantly gets the opportunity to mix his lived experience with his passion for hip-hop and for all other forms of dance. Before dancing Keanu never gave much thought to what he wanted to be, but when he found dance at the age of 15, he was instantly enthralled by its never-ending momentum and evolution. Over the past three years, Keanu has performed with the University of Utah’s Performing Dance Company and has studied under the entire faculty in the Department of Modern Dance, as well as with various guest artists. He has also performed and choreographed around the western United States. Over this past winter he toured with the Interloper Dance Collective to San Francisco where he worked with Yannis Adoniou in order to choreograph and perform his own work. In recognition for his work in the Department, Keanu received in 2012 the Department’s most prestigious scholarship, The Anne Riordan Scholarship. Outside of the Department, Keanu works several jobs to support his education. After graduating with a BFA in dance, Keanu plans to continue researching the cross connections between styles of movement such as Hip Hop, Modern Dance, and Ballet. He also plans on auditioning for dance companies around the world and exploring new horizons for himself. His biggest aspiration is to perform a lead role in a Cirque Du Soleil production. After gaining more experience traveling the world Keanu would like to pursue an MFA in order to become a professor in dance.
